So many things, we're told
we must accept as manifest fact-
one of the oldest of these maxims,
is that you can never go back.
Some would wish for the womb itself,
and others for simple childhood joys-
never have to worry about things like paying the rent,
just remember to pick up all your toys.
And you can't go back to growth,
or days filled with discoveries and wonders;
not even the far-off echoes,
of the bad choices that tear our lives asunder.
Mistakes we make,
